From Borneo and Around

This blog is all about Borneo (and sometimes elswere) as I experience it. It's about places, people, fauna, food ... and anything I find pleasantly worth sharing in words and pictures.

FREMANTLE, WA

THE PUNK PIPER

Western Australians are that sort of people who have a gift for letting you believe that you have figured them out, only to surprise you out of your comfort, as and when you least expect it, like this punk, tattooed Scottish piper I caught performing in front of the Fremantle Market. How creative, and down to the kilt too! And what of the music? Electrifying, great!

NORTH KOREA THROUGH THE EYE OF MY TELESCOPE

It is an odd thing to see that people who parade with their fist clenched are usually the ones who live under the thumb.

TOILET CULTURE

A reminder that we should not take everything for granted, especially when visiting another country. I took these pictures 150 kilometers away from Kuching where tourist coaches stop on their way to the Iban rivers of Lemanak, Skrang and to Batang Ai.

PETER KONG IS GETTING MARRIED

Wee hoy! Youpi!
I’m on holiday, so goodbye Borneo Post and grim news, I am reading HELLO*!

While I find that too much of the Borneo Post can sometimes push me to the brink of depression, I wonder if this month’s issue of the British magazine could come as an overdose of good news: Kylie is in love; Kate Middleton has all the best designers working the best wedding look for her; Rod Stewart is doing the flea market in Paris (it should be me!); it’s sea, sex and sun for the Monacos again; beautiful people are dazzling one another and possibly the rest of the world, for a good cause (the Raisa Gorbachev Foundation) at Hampton Court Palace and my horoscope is really good.

I feel good and good news attracting more of them, they keep on coming with even the Western Australian winter taking a break to let the sun show up as an unexpected guest at Peter’s and Olivia’s wedding on the 18th of  July 2010.                                                                                                                                                                 For all their friends back in Kuching, I am delighted to post the first pictures of                                      Mr. and Mrs.Peter Kong aka Peter the Great when he is in the kitchen or is it
“Petit Chou”?

So HELLO! From Perth WA and cheers to all!
